Must de Cartier Vermeil

In the 70,s and 80,s Switzerland suffered from the worst economic crisis in its history,
The Quartz crisis as they call it now.
Within 13 years, the crisis cost around two-thirds of the industry’s employees their jobs.
In that time the Swiss watch brands had to be creative to overcome this cheaper and more accurate competitor.

A lot of brands worked together on a quartz movement to be as accurate as the new coming Seiko (Think about the Rolex Oyster Quartz or the Omega Electroquartz).
Cartier could not stay behind and made the Must the Cartier line.
Started with a manual wind movement and later on a quartz movement.

The Must the Cartier line was a huge succes, especially with the fashion crowd and the trend setters.
It was such a succes that people bought two or three at the time because of there unique dial variations.
Some people let them costum made like this one with instead of a gold plated case they asked for a silver case.
