Description
A distinctive piece of Omega history from 1969, the Seamaster Soccer Timer Ref. 145.020 was created specifically for timing football matches. Its unusual 45-minute scale reflects its purpose and gives the watch its unmistakable character.
This example features a sharp 40 mm stainless-steel case with the original combination of brushed and polished surfaces. The black “soccer” dial remains clean and highly legible, with contrasting white and red timing elements. A small, subtle mark can be seen around 4 o’clock.
Inside is Omega’s hand-wound Calibre 861, a highly regarded chronograph movement closely related to the calibre used in the Speedmaster. The movement has recently been serviced and is running very well.
The Soccer Timer is an unusual and increasingly interesting part of Omega’s vintage catalogue, produced for a very specific purpose rather than as a conventional everyday chronograph. This makes it particularly appealing to collectors looking for something beyond the more familiar Omega models.
